The FMF atelier is located in ancient Rome, on a street commissioned by Sisto V, which was to connect Trinità dei Monti - Piazza di Spagna - with Saint Peter's Basilica. Thanks to this ancient city plan, Via del Clementino now enjoys the scenic view of Trinità dei Monti yet is still far enough away to still be a quiet and elegant little way.the workshop Here on via del Clementino 98-99-100, in the 1998, Fausto Maria Franchi's new workshop was inaugurated. The Roman sculptor, goldsmith, and designer, Fausto Maria Franchi, esteemed and renowned creator of contemporary art, has been active in the field since 1962. Certainly anyone who decides to visit this artisan goldsmith and silversmith's suggestive bottega cannot help but marvel at the FMF creations on exhibit or for sale in a spacious area set aside for this purpose. Much like an art gallery, it adjoins the actual production workshop. This makes it possible to admire how the precious materials are worked in the hands of the artist and transformed into veritable works of art, unique creations, never one identical to another, yet all stamped with the artist's highly original and inspiring style. A modern concept of space and materials combined with traditional techniques: lost-wax fusion, hammer, repoussé and chisel shaping, or stove enamel work.
The production ranges from
ornamental objects and furnishing accents in 999.9/000 pure silver (the warm and
fascinating "white silvers"), to silver jewels, as well as jewellery in 750/000
and 925/000 gold. Indeed these jewels are characterized not only by the use of
unusual natural stones, but also by the strong personality of their creator
Fausto Maria Franchi.
The same sensitivity and refinement is also evident in the essential decoration and balanced spaces of the area itself where the visitor might appreciate the exhibited objects and the luring fascination of forms, light, and sensations magically drawing him or her into the artist's own thoughts. The idea of painting the high vaulted ceilings of the exhibition area black, creates a comfortable and intimate mood yet at the same time leaves the pleasant sensation of spaciousness untouched. Spotlighting gives enhanced focus to some of the most novel features of the exhibition. The shop windows, designed by Enrico Franchi, are interesting. Practical and innovative, they are a play on the figures of circle within square, and harmonize with the interior environment, adding to the enjoyment of the objects exhibited. via del Clementino, 98-99-100 C.A.P.: 00186 Roma | tel. 06/6871558 | email: info@fmfranchi.com partita I.V.A. 00169210580 |
