Fausto Maria Franchi was born in Rome on 9 May 1939; he received his training under the guidance of Professors Orlandini and Gerardi, at the Art School of Rome.

In 1962 he was registered in the Artisans' Registry and with the trademark identification 131RM and punch FMF, he opened his artisan goldsmith and silversmith bottega in Rome, Via della Vite, 65, with a workshop on Via Mario dei Fiori. In Florence in 1964, he won 1st Prize in the National Goldsmiths Competition at the International Handicrafts Show organized by the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

In 1965 Fausto Maria Franchi executed a gold and silver case for the "Gold Book of the City of Rome" and in 1967, he was awarded a gold medal commendation and was registered in the "Albo d'Onore del Lavoro," Registry - Handicrafts Sector.

Fausto Maria Franchi's training was complemented by a series of trips to the United States, Germany, Holland, and Hungary.

In the seventies, after a stay in Pietrasanta, he devoted himself more intensively to sculpting and had a studio in Rome, Vicolo del Piede, 21/22, as well as in Todi-Chioano.

The summer of 1986 marked his participation in the Symposium of Wood Sculpture, which was held in Naguatād, Hungary, organized by the Artists' Academy of Budapest.

In '91 he became member of the University and Bobil College of Goldsmiths and Silversmiths of the ALMA City of Rome, and the Schmuckmuseum of Phorzheim. This museum today contains his gold bracelet.

Since 1992 Fausto Maria Franchi has been the goldsmith President of the CNA (National Confederation of Handicrafts and Small and Medium Companies). Since 1993 he is art director of "Desideri Preziosi"("Precious Desires"), a theme exhibition and competition for the studios of young silversmiths and goldsmiths from Rome, organized annually by the C.C.I.A.A. at the l'Hôtel Plaza.

In 1998 he founded the cultural association "Cenacolo dell'oreficeria" which aims to promote goldsmith culture in Italy, through a program of lectures and discussions on techniques and Applied Arts History. He is also an Inspector for the C.C.I.A.A. experts of the City and Province of Rome, for the Silversmith and Goldsmith Sector.

Today his artisan goldsmith and silversmith bottega is located in Rome, on Via del Clementino, 98- 99-100 (Piazza Fontanella Borghese), Tel: 06/6871558 - Fax: 06/6832988.
